Thursday will be the final day for the near-capacity Chase Landfill. The TNRD announced last month that the site will close permanently with plans to send residents to the new South Thompson Eco-Depot in the future.

For the time being residents are being detoured to the Pritchard transfer station.

The new Eco-Depot is scheduled for an early 2013 opening and will be a one stop area for all waste and recyclable items. It's part of the TNRD's plan to reduce waste in the region by 30 percent.
