West K Officers Honoured Following Summer Incident

11/29/2012

Members of the West Kelowna RCMP involved in the July shooting incident on Westside Rd. were honoured by the Westbank First Nations earlier this week. A special Feather Ceremony was held in the Westbank First Nation Council Chambers to honour Constables Mike Phillion, Mike Taylor and Corporal Brian Harris. Using an Eagle's Feather, the ceremony holds very deep meaning among many first nations' bands, as the Eagle flies closest to the Creator.  The Feathers were blessed as a form of protection for the officers.
